Jennifer LoCasale-Crouch from the University of Virginia presented on the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). Vi-Nhuan Le of the RAND Corporation discussed the Mosaic II protocol jointly developed by RAND and the National Science Foundation. Jennifer Lewis from the University of Michigan presented on the Learning Mathematics for Teaching Protocol.
Emphasis was placed on detailed learning about the three observation strategies—including instrumentation, protocols, and methodology. Participants also explored the challenges and strategies associated with their own work in developing observational methods.
